Integration of the Russian-speaking minority in the Czech Republic

In this bechelor´s thesis the autor will focus on the integration of the russian speaking minority in the Czech republic. At the beginning of the thesis she will try to explain definitions such as integration and its course, international migration and outline the legal issues of migrants. The main purpose of this thesis is to describe the adaptations of foreigners to life in the Czech republic, their deployment in the Czech republic, the type of work they do and reasons for moving. Last but not least she will mention the legal legislation in the Czech republic for national minorities and foreighners, their protection and list several non-profit organizations dealing with the problém of integration or national minorities.
Identification and adaptation of members of the Ukrainian minority in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of integration of members of the Ukrainian minority into Czech society. The work is specifically focused on the experience of Ukrainians who hold Czech citizenship with adaptation to the majority society of the Czech Republic and how they identify themselves. It examines their adaptation to Czech society and culture, how they perceive their position within this society, whether they consider themselves Czechs or Ukrainians and what obstacles they encounter during this process. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to a summary description of the Ukrainian minority in the Czech Republic and also to the previous research on Ukrainians in the Czech territory. It also defines the basic concepts and theories that are used in the thesis. The second part describes the research methodology, methods of data collection and analysis. The data are obtained by qualitative research in the form of six semi-structured interviews with members of the Ukrainian minority. The final part consists of analysis of topics such as beginnings of residence in the Czech Republic, citizenship, language, social contacts, traditions, interest in society's happenings and identification, which resulted from the interviews.

The image of ethnic and national minorities in Czech mass media

The work deals with an image of ethnic and national minorities in Czech mass media. The theoretical part defines the basic theoretical terms and briefly characterizes selected minorities in our country. It also attends to the issues of coexistence, problems of stereotypes, attitudes and prejudices. The end of this part is addressing the issues of media, media product and medial representation of minorities in the selected theme context. The practical part is based on the assumption of current media presenting the minorities mostly in a connection with negative content, for example criminality, unemployment etc. The research part is aimed at the content analysis of daily newspaper articles, that relate to chosen minorities.
